Scottish Pubs Code Adjudicator visits tied pubs across Highlands and Islands

The Scottish Pubs Code Adjudicator, Sarah Havlin, is visiting tied pub tenants across the Highlands and Islands this week, 2 to 6 November, in Dingwall, Ullapool, Stornoway and other locations, as part of her ongoing programme of engagement with those operating under the Scottish Pubs Code. The visits will help the Adjudicator understand how the Code is working in practice and identify any emerging issues affecting tied pubs across the region.

Sarah Havlin said:

“The Scottish Pubs Code launched 18 months ago, introducing new rights for tied pub tenants and new responsibilities for tied pub landlords. Hearing directly from tied pub tenants about their experiences of operating under the Code is an important part of understanding how the Code is working in practice and whether its rights and protections are operating as intended.

“Every pub is unique, and pubs operating across the Highlands and Islands can face different circumstances from those elsewhere in Scotland. It is important that we understand those experiences and any issues arising in different parts of the country.

“I am interested in hearing how awareness and use of the Code's rights and protections have developed since implementation, including the guest beer right, and whether there are any issues that would benefit from further guidance or engagement”.
